My pics fly high

In the last few months I had the opportunity to start collaborating with Ink Global, the world’s leader inflight and travel related magazines producer.

So far I received 3 assignments covering Cambodia for Fah Thai Magazine (Bangkok Airways) and Tiger Tales Asia (Tiger Airways).

I have been travelling to Siem Reap and Phnom Penh with Paul and his lovely family for Tiger Tales Asia:

Orphanage Tourism in Cambodia for Nido Magazin

Last March, I was contacted by the German Magazine “Nido” to make a reportage about the increasing phenomena of the Orphanage Tourism in Cambodia.

The work, made together with the journalist Anke Helle, is featured on the June’s issue.

The Financial Times Weekend

Here’s my latest work I did for The Financial Times Weekend about Phnom Penh’s heritage under threat from real estate boom.

As the pictures they published are very tiny, here’s a bigger version (with a couple more from the same assignment):

Again on The New York Times

Sadly, two days ago, the ceiling of a storage area of a shoe factory, located 50km SouthWest of Phnom Penh, collapsed, killing 2 people and injured 7.

Even if I arrived a little late on the scene, I was able to take some good shoots and I delivered them to one of my contacts at The New York Times in Hong Kong and, luckily, they decided to published them (on the NYT’s website and on paper, on The Herald Tribune Asia and on The New York Times).

I’m absolutely not a news guy! I’m not confortable with the pression and the timing you have covering these kind of horrible events, and I wasn’t exactly proud of my work, so I was really surprised to see one of my pictures featured on “The Pictures of the day” of LENS.

RUOM’s first publication

I’m very happy to announce the first publication of our reportage as RUOM Collective.

The work, about life of the exploited labourers of Cambodia’s sugar fields, has been published on the South East Asia Globe with the title “The Canes of Wrath”.

My first front page

A month ago, exactly the day of my birthday (8th of March), I received a call from the office of The New York Times in Hong Kong asking me if I were available for a double assignment (thanks again to John Vink :P). I couldn’t believe it, the perfect birthday present!!

Yesterday morning, leaving Bangkok, I realized that one of the picture for the first assignment, made the front page of The International Herald Tribune Asia. And you cannot imagine my happiness!!!

So far, the pictures have been published in The New York Times (business section).

In the front page of The International Herald Tribune Asia and in the business section of The International Herald Tribune Europe.

Can’t wait to see also the publication of the second assignment!

Mourning for the King

My latest work “Mourning for the king” is online in my Behance Profile.

About 3,500 monks and thousands of Cambodian people pray for the former king Norodom Sihanouk, in front of the royal palace. The revered monarch died of a heart attack in Beijing on October 15, and Cambodians came out in their tens of thousands to pay respects.
