ABOUT ME:

Thomas Cristofoletti is an award-winning documentary cinematographer and photojournalist based in Southeast Asia since 2012. Originally from the Italian Alps, he works between Bangkok and Phnom Penh, telling human-centered stories at the intersection of climate change, development, and human rights.

He is the co-founder of RUOM, a multimedia collective specializing in documentary film, photography, and investigative visual journalism.

Thomas is especially passionate about the Mekong region, where his long-term work explores the environmental and social impacts of large-scale development. His latest documentary, Strangled, follows three Cambodian families and challenges the prevailing narrative of microfinance as a solution to poverty.

His work has been published in The New York Times, The Guardian, Der Spiegel, BBC, Bloomberg, and others. His photos and films have supported campaigns by organizations including USAID, WWF, UNEP, UNICEF, and The Obama Foundation.

He speaks English, Italian, and Spanish fluently.
