A seat at the table - CAMBODIA
“Seat at the Table” aims to paint a truly global picture of the climate emergency facing our world.
Jack Harries, 28, filmmaker and activist, has talked with farmers and firefighters, inventors and activists. People whose voices need to be heard at the COP26’s global climate conference.
I shot one of the stories in episode one, focusing on Chhum Shim (from minute 5:00), a Cambodian rice farmer whose livelihood has been disrupted by climate change–driven shifts in weather patterns. Struggling to repay a loan taken out to sustain her farm, she and her family left their rural home to work in a brick kiln on the outskirts of the capital.
Like many others, she has become a climate migrant.
