VOA - THE war that never ended

In the remote province of Ratanakiri, Cambodia, Keun—a young Kreung Indigenous single mother—spends her days sweeping the soil for unexploded bombs left behind by a war that ended decades before she was born. Trained by Norwegian People’s Aid, she works as part of an UXO survey team, taking on a role traditionally reserved for men.

This short documentary was commissioned by Voice of America in December 2024, with completion scheduled for April 2025.

In March 2025, President Trump signed an executive order to dismantle VOA’s parent agency, the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM), and dismissed most of the editors working at VOA, including those involved in this project.

The situation is still unfolding, but I have decided to publish this documentary privately anyway (please email me to receive a password for a private view), as a tribute to everyone who poured their time, energy, and heart into making it possible.
